  • Vedder Rd. corridor
  • Affordable multifamily and single detached
  • Opportunities for seniors and first-time buyers

dsc03295

A variety of multifamily complexes along the Vedder road corridor, built mostly in the 1990′s provide affordable family living for young families and first time buyers.

Stretching from the Promontory/Watson Rd intersection on the north to the Vedder River bridge on the south, this area struggled somewhat with the closing of CFB Chilliwack in 1997 but is enjoying new vitality and growth with the development of neighbouring Garrison Crossing and the establishment of the Education Park adjacent to this area.

The retail services available to residents here are growing and being rejuvenated and the boutique style commercial corner at Garrison Crossing will make this a vibrant, desirable location in the very near future. The subdivisions of detached homes accessed via Thomas Rd began in the late 70′s and further developed in the late 1990′s with quiet cul-de-sacs which have become a choice neighbourhood for families since the opening of the new GW Graham Middle/Secondary School here.

At the eastern boundary is Halcyon Meadows, a recently developed gated community of over 200 detached retirement style ranchers and current new construction at the southern end of Vedder Crossing is bringing additional condominium housing options to this area as well.

Nature lovers will enjoy the quick access to the trails and fishing along the Vedder/Chilliwack Rivers and commutors can avoid in-town traffic with the Keith Wilson Rd route to the freeway.

Back to All Neighbourhoods List

  • Quaint rural community
  • Great location for commuters travelling west
  • Arts & crafts area

This charming little community is located on the western boundary of Chilliwack district, south of the Trans Canada Hwy sharing a border with Abbotsford. It is a place steeped in the heritage of primarily Mennonite settlers and it continues to be a close-knit yet inclusive community. For its small stature, it is relatively self-sustaining with services that include: financial institutions, convenience grocery, gas station, barber, pizza, and churches most of which are located on the main street, Yarrow Central Road.
The majority of homes in Yarrow were built prior to 1960, although newer homes have sprung up on smaller holdings, the large and prosperous farms, and on Majuba Hill which looks over the village from the south. Modest homes on standard sized residential lots are found on the quiet side streets just off of the main corridor, and for the most part lot sizes grow in square footages as you move out from the nucleus until you find very larger agricultural enterprises including dairies, poultry operations, nurseries and flower growers.
Many talented artists and craftspeople, attracted by the beauty and lifestyle that Yarrow offers, have stayed or more recently settled here. Browsing pottery studios, little home galleries and the like is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Rosedale /Popkum

Beautiful panoramic mountain vistas
Country lifestyles with modern conveniences
Good freeway access

p1030429At the eastern end of the Upper Fraser Valley sits the village of Rosedale. A long established community, it is comprised of a small town centre and nearby older homes on residential lots, radiating out to small hobby farms, and then larger acreages with commercial farms and agri-businesses. At the far east end we have seen the development of a number of small subdivisions geared primarily to families. The services and shops in Rosedale include a credit union, post office, grocery, restaurants, gas stations and a number of churches. The jewel of the area is the world famous Minter Gardens, just off of Hwy No.7 exit of the Trans Canada Hwy.

Greendale

  • Rural farm community on valley floor
  • Terrific location for those commuting to Abbotsford & beyond
  • Still only 10 minutes to major shopping corridor

mt-cheam-2Greendale is aptly named as it is the heart of the farming community that lies to the west of Chilliwack. Greendale has long been known as a rural Mennonite community and to this day has two lovely churches at it’s heart. It’s population is relatively small given that most homes sit on small hobby farms to major dairy operations. There is a ‘main street’ augmented with a few no exit side streets that do have more city-sized lots. Commercial services are limited to a corner store, and a few garages. Situated on the south side of the Trans Canada Hwy,with Lickman Rd to the east and the Vedder Canal forming  it’s western border, Greendale is a very desirable location for people who have to drive to the Lower Mainland for work.  Easy access to the highway is via the Yale Rd. interchange just west of Chadsey Road.

Traditionally the homes were older farmhouses mixed with some original custom-built homes. In the past few years some of the smaller older homes have been torn down in favour of some truly very large showcase homes set on small acreages.

For golf enthusiasts Greendale boosts two top notch courses. The Chilliwack Golf and Country Club, a semi-private club which was established in 1958, is a beautiful and well regarded course. The newer Royalwood first opened in 1990. This 18 hole, par 72 course lets you pull out the big dog. Royalwood has in past few years added an RV park to the facility.

With open views and peaceful lifestyle it is no wonder that Greendale is also home to artisans and craftspeople from potters to soap makers. You will also find as one would expect in the country, cottage food producers of fruit and veggies, honey and cheeses.

Eastern Hillsides & The Falls

Easy Freeway Access
Lovely Valley Views
Peaceful Lifestyle Among the Trees and the Links

Marble HillLocated east of Chilliwack on the south side of the Trans Canada Hwy, the neighbourhoods of this area for the most part lift you off the valley floor to give you views to the north of lush farm fields and distant mountain ranges. Although there are some original homesteads in the hills the main thrust of building and development began in the 1990s and continues today. The area is made up of two main hills Marble Hill and Nixon Hill. Both hills are a mix of the older homes on acreages and newer residential homes from the modest to the grand! Between the two hills is the fabulous Falls Golf Course and Restaurant, which is also flanked by executive homes. Beyond this area to the east is, another golf course, Bridal Falls Golf Course, Bridal Veil Falls for a super scenic hike and for family fun, the Trans Canada Waterslides.

  • Access to the lake and other family recreation
  • Very quiet three seasons of the year
  • Close to nature for hiking, etc

cultus-lake-homes5

Cultus Lake is well renowned throughout the Fraser Valley as a place to camp, boat, golf (full and mini), and more but to Chilliwack it is also one of our most special ‘neighbourhoods’. Located at the southern end of the Chilliwack district it comes within kms of touching the US border. There are communities at both the north and south end of the Lake, joined together by Columbia Valley Hwy which runs through the Provincial Park.

During the early 1900s, the Cultus Lake area began to build its popularity, which then led to the formation of a joint committee between Cultus Lake and the City of Chilliwack in 1924. This then led to the formation of the Cultus Lake Park Board in 1932, which is still in effect today. At the north end the largest number of homes are on lease land that is owned by the City of Chilliwack, and managed by the Cultus Lake Park Board. The homes and cottages here are a mix of fulltime (over 1000) and seasonal residences on cozy lots snuggled in together along narrow streets and lanes. Although many of these homes were originally built over 60 years ago, most have been substantially renovated over the years or completely replaced by new construction. It has a wonderful charm that is expected in such an established lake community.  Just past the Cultus Lake Waterslides towards the east there are two small developments of larger freehold lots, and two established mobile home parks.

At the far south end of the Lake is the community of Lindell Beach, which consists of ## freehold lots. This is a very desirable area which also backs Aquadel Golf Course.

Immediately south of Aquadel Golf Course, The Cottages at Cultus Lake is a recreational development that began pre-sales in 2007. When completed it will consist of 230 cottages made up of 15 different designs. The plan is also slated to include many family amenties including a tennis court, Treehouse clubhouse, boat storage, basketball court and parks dotted throughout.

As in many ‘resort’ areas the real estate has at Cultus Lake, relatively speaking, a higher value than other comparable homes in the nearby neighbourhoods. Click below if you are interested in more details on buying homes in this area.

There are some commercial services at the Lake that go along with recreation area such as restaurants, a pub, convenience stores, gas station,  as well as a post office There is lovely old church Cultus Lake Memorial Church, and a community hall that are particularly nice for the year round residents.

Cultus is really an outdoor lovers paradise whether you prefer a quiet stroll around the Lake on crisp October day, a scenic round of golf at either Cultus Lake Golf Course or Aquadel Golf Course, or a brisk hike up Teapot Hill amongst the majestic fir and ferns.
